I do try to single out certain aspects in certain films. Typically, for our first film, I want something that draws attention to editing and composition techniques. I want them to understand the intention and purpose that goes into the frame-by-frame construction of what they're seeing, and how different choices have different effects.

I also want that first film to be really exciting and entertaining. THE MATRIX is a particularly great intro film. It is rated R, though, and I'm not sure what kind of leeway your school gives you.
