While I agree Manchin will be the proverbial fall guy for much of the progressive agenda that establishment Democrats don't actually want to push through, despite their rhetoric to the contrary, on this issue the numbers don't quite add up to Manchin being able to scuttle the whole thing. There are actually some Republicans who would support these checks, like the disgraced Josh Hawley, for example, who co-signed the original bill with Bernie.
